The New York Rangers are in one heck of a slump, and the team is urgently looking to shake things up, with Sean Avery reportedly being considered for the GM role.

Reports out of the NHL analyst Steve Dangle explain that the New York Rangers held a players-only meeting yesterday where a players-led plan to move on from GM Chris Drury was discussed.

On the latest episode of the 'Steve Dangle Podcast', Steve Dangle suggested the players on the Rangers team have now turned on Chris Drury and are now scheming to get him out of the job.

"There was a players-only meeting and it was not to discuss Peter Laviolette...that relationship is fine...Their main gripe is Chris Drury...They want him to either change his ways or be gone."

Meanwhile, TNT NHL broadcaster Paul Bissonnette tweeted that former Rangers forward Sean Avery would be meeting with team owner James Dolan this week to discuss the state of the organization.

"I'm also hearing rumblings that Sean Avery is going over to NYC to talk about the state of the New York Rangers. There is a crazy element to James Dolan that might get rid of Drury and hire Sean Avery as the next general manager."

Bissonnette would go on to say that Avery is "flying to New York to speak with James Dolan to talk specifically about the state of the team."

About that point, Bissonnette believes that James Dolan may dismiss Drury and probably bring Avery as a general manager of the team.
