Three teams emerge as potential suits for 2019 2nd overall pick Kaapo Kakko
The New York Rangers look like they need to move on from Finnish winger Kaapo Kakko and three different teams, the Montreal Canadiens, San Jose Sharks, and Anaheim Ducks have emerged as suitors for the formed 2nd overall pick.
Back in 2019 Jack Hughes and Kaapo Kakko headlined the draft with both being seen as cant-miss prospects. After a few years, Hughes emerged as a superstar for the New Jersey Devils while Kakko has struggled to flourish with the Rangers.
This past season Kakko regressed scoring only 19 points in 61 games. In the playoffs, he performed even worse scoring only two points through 15 games for the Rangers.
It looks like a change of scenery is necessary for the Finnish forward and three teams have emerged as potential suitors for Kakko.
Montreal Canadiens... With Kakko being 23 years old and having good upside, they are a clear team to watch when it comes to him.
San Jose Sharks... The Sharks must add impactful forwards to their roster to help [Macklin Celebrini's] development, and a young forward like Kakko could be a great fit because of it.
Anaheim Ducks... They have been connected to Kakko in the past, and he could be a good young forward for them to add to their core. Each team has its own unique reason for potentially adding Kakko but one common trait amongst the three is that Kakko will get more of an opportunity as he will not be fighting with as many NHL veterans and stars for ice time.
