Projected 1st overall pick Macklin Celebrini is yet to decide if he will go pro
Boston University star Macklin Celebrini is projected to be the first overall pick in the 2024 NHL draft to the San Jose Sharks and is yet to decide on his NHL future.
The NHL draft is coming up next month and all analysts and experts believe Boston University talent Macklin Celebrini will be the first name called at the 2024 NHL draft.
Recently Celebrini spoke with the NHL and whether he will go pro next year or not and it looks like a return to Boston University next fall is in the cards for Celebrini.
The 17-year-old left-handed shot still hasn't determined if he will return to BU or turn professional in 2024-25.
"I haven't made up my mind yet," he said. "That's a decision that I'm going to make a little bit later. I wish I could tell you I've made up my mind because that'd be a lot easier."
Celebrini has already won the Hobey Baker as the best player in college hockey so if he were to return for a sophomore year, he would be dominant.
It is hard to imagine Celebrini will ditch the NHL next year but if he and the Sharks believe that is the best course of action, Celebrini will head back to BU and will likely break records with the Terriers.
