In a shocking turn of events, top goalie prospect Reid Dyck is no longer a member of the Boston Bruins as the Utah Hockey Club has stolen him away.

Reid Dyke was one of the top goalie prospects in the 2022 draft. He was picked up 183rd overall by the Boston Bruins. At 6'4" and only 20 years young, Dyck had a phenomenal season with the Swift Current Broncos. Curiously, however, he and the Bruins never could seem to get a deal signed. This is somewhat surprising, given that the Bruins traded 2023 Vezina winner Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators over the summer, and their third-string goalie, Brandon Bussi, is still mostly untested. That being said, letting go of such a promising goalie prospect seems bold, especially with Jeremy Swayman's contract extension still up in the air, and with how the latest reports have stated that the club and Swayman are a massive $2 million apart in talks.

Now, Reid Dyck has seized another opportunity and is training with the Utah Hockey Club, which recently relocated from Arizona. The Utah HC, owned by Ryan Smith and the Smith Entertainment Group, just assumed the Coyotes franchise and decided on Salt Lake City as the new place to play out of, which is fast becoming one of the hottest spots in all of hockey.

It would appear the Bruins have chosen prospect Michael Di Pietro over Reid Dyck to hold down the fort for the future. How well will such a move pay off? Only time will tell.
