During the NHL Stadium Series today one rookie got his NHL career going with an iconic moment.
6'8 Rookie Drops The Gloves Just 1 Second Into His NHL Career
After a quick goal, New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe found himself lined up for a faceoff. With the Rangers up 1-0, Rempe was looking to get momentum further on his team's side. To do so the 6'8 rookie challenged enforcer Matt Martin to a fight.
Rempe and Martin would have a respectable scrap and both go to the box for five minutes. Despite Rempe's success in the fight, the Rangers would go down 3-1 in the game. With a good second period, the Rangers are now down just one goal 4-3 heading into the third period.
With the stage set, it will be fun to see if Rempe can further cement his legendary status during his debut.
