In the second period with the puck being dumped in to the Panthers end, Rangers rookie Matt Rempe came in to lay a big hit on the Florida Panthers defenseman Gustav Forsling. He just missed him, but it could have big of a collision as it was against Ilya Lybushkin on Saturday night.
After just missing Forsling, Jonah Gadjovich stepped right in to Rempe's face. It was not an immediate challenge to fight but it is likely the veteran player warned the New York Rangers' new talked about rookie.
A fight never did occur between the two. That may be because Rempe has fought so much in the week plus he has been in the NHL so far, or perhaps he took stock in Gadjovich's warning.
Even though the game ended 4-2, it was a back and forth affair with both teams not giving an inch to the other. To start the game a different Ranger rookie opened the scoring in Will Cuylle. In the second period Sam Rienhart posted two back to back goals, before Chris Krieder tied it up before the end of the frame. Ryan Lomberg pulled the Panthers ahead on a pretty weak goal in the third, and Florida later added in an empty net goal.
There were also many scrums in the game, with Matthew Tkachuck and Nick Cousins usually at the centre of it. A playoff battle between these two teams could be epic.
