The Boston Bruins for a long time have been a deep team with some of the greatest two-way players in the game.
However after a disappointing playoffs, Boston Bruins General Manager made some drastic changes and fired Coach Bruce Cassidy and brought back former Bruin David Krejci.
One other piece of business Sweeny wanted to do was re-sign the Bruins best player David Pastrnak.
Pastrnak is a pending UFA next summer and the Bruins GM is doing everything to avoid seeing what happened to the Calgary Flames with Johnny Gaudreau, happen to Boston. However Pastrnak doesn't seem too eager to re-sign with Boston.
Pastrnak is coming off a 40 goal campaign and is one of the best value deals in the National Hockey League. A prime example of what signing a young player to a long-term deal early can do for your team down the road.
According to Andy & Rono of ARSports, Pastrnak is in no rush to considering re-signing with the Bruins. Pasta's only consideration at this time is winning a Stanley Cup, something he's unsure the Bruins can accomplish.
"The Boston Bruins would like re-sign David Pastrnak this off-season already, but according to our source Pastrnak is in no rush to sign an extension. Not so good news for Boston.
It looks like he wants to know if the Bruins still will have a chance to win the Stanley Cup in those next years when Bergeron and Krejci retire. He wants a Stanley Cup so bad. It's his goal.
Don't get us wrong. He still prefers to stay in Boston. He loves the city. But nothing is sure right now. Maybe we'll see Stamkos/Gaudreau situation again or something like that in next summer."
While there is no guarantee that Pastrnak is leaving the Bruins, there is also no guarantee he is staying either. All we know right now is, he has no interest in even discussing an extension.
