One of the most disappointing teams last season was the Philadelphia Flyers. They made a lot of moves in the offseason to bring in new big names, but due to injuries and COVID, the team never got it going and missed the playoffs.
Last season the Flyers made a move to bring in veteran defenceman Ryan Ellis, it was a threeway trade between the Flyers, Predators and Golden Knights, but the Flyers sent Philippe Myers and Nolan Patrick.
Ellis only managed to get into 4 games last season for the Flyers before getting injured:
Ellis is suffering from a pelvic injury, and while news was originally that he would most likely miss a major portion of the 2022-23 season, it is now even worse.
The Flyers General Manager Chuck Fletcher gave an update on two of his key players who are injured:
Fletcher says it's way premature to say if this is season ending or career ending for Couturier. Says that Couturier is feeling better than he did last year. They're optimistic is can be resolved.
However, he does acknowledge that Ryan Ellis' issue could be career ending.
