Josh Bailey has signed a PTO with the Ottawa Senators, with the longtime Winger playing away from the Islanders for the first time in his NHL Career.
Bailey, who made his NHL Debut for the Islanders in the 2008-09 Season, had weathered multiple revampings with the club, going from a league bottom-feeder to a resurgence led by Bailey and fellow teammate and Islanders Captain John Tavares, in which Bailey emerged as a leader after Tavares departed in the summer of 2018 for his hometown Toronto Maple Leafs.
Bailey, 33, was traded from the Islanders in June, along with a 2nd Round Pick in 2026, to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Future Considerations, with Chicago buying his contract out, leaving him to the open market. In 64 Games this past season with the Islanders, Bailey had 8 Goals, 17 Assists & 25 Points. The move adds a much-needed veteran option to a young, albeit talented, Senators squad, with the potential for Bailey to make Ottawa's bottom-six.
In his career for the Islanders, Josh Bailey ranks 3rd in teams Games Played (1057), 4th in Assists (396) & 7th in Points (580). Bailey was selected 9th Overall by the Islanders in the 2008 NHL Draft.
