Carter Hart's name has been swirling around in trade rumors recently and a new trade proposal would send him to a western conference powerhouse.

Hart Trade Proposal

Carter Hart is one of the most interesting names on the trade market. He has shown the ability to carry a struggling team to success which very few goalies can do.

The Seattle Kraken had a fantastic sophomore season having one of the most balanced rosters in the NHL and making it to the 2nd round defeating the defending Stanley Cup Champions along the way.

Unfortunately, they lost to the Dallas Stars in 7 games. Goaltending for Seattle was a storyline all playoffs with it being very off and on and now a potential new goalie could be brought in by GM Ron Francis.

Trade Analysis

From Seattle's perspective, it is a slam dunk trade. They acquire their franchise goalie and are clearly getting the best player in the trade. They also do not give up any of their roster players and they shed a bad contract.

So why does Philly do this? Philly recoups a very deep amount of assets. The biggest part is the 2023 first round pick which is 20th overall. In a very deep class like 2023, this pick could result in a premier player who would go top 10 in a weaker draft.

On top of this, the Flyers also get a 2023 2nd round pick. David Goyette is also a top tier prospect who despite going in the 3rd round of 2022, could likely prove to be a great middle 6 NHL forward. He is the Kraken's 2nd best forward prospect behind Shane Wright.

Finally, Chris Driedger is the interesting part of this deal. He did not play an NHL game last season after rehabbing from a torn ACL. His contract is only $3.5m and is largely a part of the deal so the cap can work out.

Final Thoughts

Seattle likely would need to add a tad or remove Driedger from the trade entirely but for the most part, it is an even trade that should entice the Flyers.
