Carey Price recently opened up about what he would do if the Canadiens approached him with a trade, revealing his feelings for the team.

Price Opens Up About Whether or Not He Would Waive his NTC For the Canadiens

Carey Price, while not formally retired, has publicly stated that he won't play another game in the NHL because of his knee injury. Price has not played a game since 2022, and is on LTIR with the Canadiens. He still has 3 years left (including this one) on his contract, earning $10.5 million annually.

Carey Price quote from a sit down interview on NHL-dot-com: "On a day-to-day level, I feel really good, like I should still be playing. But then I'll go do something and my knee will swell up and that will be a very good reminder that it's not (going to happen)"

Now, Price has opened up regarding whether or not he would be willing to waive his NTC in order to help the Canadiens with Salary Cap constraints.

"For sure, any way I can help now," said Price as per NHL.com when asked if he would waive his no-move clause. "I'm still a part of the team and if I can help in any way, I'm here."

It's clear that the Montreal Canadiens have a special place in Carey Price's heart, and he is still willing to do anything for the team. While it may seem insignificant, since Price won't play again, a trade would mean Price would end his career on a team other than the Canadiens.

Kent Hughes Tasked With Moving Price's Contract To Get Canadiens to the Next Level

Kent Hughes is now tasked with the difficult challenge of moving Carey Price's contract in order to open up cap space and take the Canadiens to the next level. A move will put the team in a better position for future acquisitions that could help them make a run for the Stanley Cup.

Never would have imagined that Carey Price's contract (LTIR) would factor in as a major contributor to the Habs' future. Hughes also has 3 more years to actually trade his contract and bring back even more draft capital! The gift that keeps on giving! Go Kent Go
