Today brought about more bad news for the Colorado Avalanche. After suffering a concussion and facial contusions it was announced today by coach Jared Bednar that Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon would miss the all-star game after he underwent surgery on his damaged nose.
There is currently no known timetable for MacKinnon's return as his damaged nose and the lingering concussion could cause an extended absence. Concussion can obviously lead to extend leaves as can be seen with, Avalanche defenseman Bowen Byram who continues to deal with post concussion syndrome.
MacKinnon currently has 9 goals and 34 assists on the season playing in only 31 of the Avalanche's 42 games.
MacKinnon had been selected to captain the Central Division All Stars at the upcoming All Star game.
