The Habs are finally getting out of their tough season start. While they won against struggling teams such as the Buffalo Sabres and Detroit Red Wings, the team is nonetheless on a three-game winning streak, their longest of the season.
With yesterday's massive 5-1 win over the Red Wings, the Canadiens are currently sixth in the Atlantic Division.
The team won six of their last ten games, all of them with goaltender Samuel Montembault between the pipes.
Ever since it was confirmed that the goalie would represent Canada at the NHL's Four-Nations Faceoff set to go down next February, he has played well, gaining St. Louis' trust one game at a time.
However, that means the team's number two goalie Cayden Primeau hasn't seen a lot of action this season.
The 25-year-old goalie only won two games this season, has a 4.70 GAA and a .836
save percentage.
There's no denying that these numbers are abysmal, but with his high potential, Primeau managed to keep his place in Montreal.
However, things could change soon.
With Jakub Dobes performing well in the AHL with the Laval Rocket, Primeau's time in Montreal could come to an end soon.
In a recent press conference, coach St. Louis seemed irritated when he was asked to comment on the possibility of seeing Primeau start a game soon.
He avoided the question, saying he was concentrating on coaching yesterday's game:
This was the final question of the press conference, and as he left the stand, St. Louis cursed in French, seemingly because of that final question.
