Last night the Edmonton Oilers snuck out a 2-1 victory against the Calgary Flames. The game was nearly very costly for the Oilers after Mackenzie Weegar delivered a knee-on-knee hit to Connor McDavid.
The Oilers victory moves them into the final Wild Card Spot in the Western Conference one point ahead of the Flames. But this play is absolutely unacceptable by the Oilers.
Last year if something like this happened Zach Kassian would have ensured there was hell to pay. Instead this hit went completely unchecked. Luckily for the Oilers McDavid was uninjured but this could have been much worse. If McDavid is injured the Oilers are a lottery team, so this definitely can't happen again.
