The Carolina Hurricanes are preparing to get defenseman Brett Pesce back from injury in the coming week and with that the team will be saddled with some extra bodies on the blue line, leading some to believe that a move will made soon.

Hurricanes Shopping DeAngelo

Recently, on Hockey Night in Canada's «Saturday Headlines,» Elliotte Friedman reported that Tony DeAngelo is a potential trade piece for Hurricanes GM Don Waddell, who has been testing the waters.

"There is word Carolina is looking to move a defenceman. The name hearing a lot out there is Tony DeAngelo, but there are other things that the Carolina Hurricanes will potentially consider."

DeAngelo played 70 games for the Flyers last season before returning to Carolina on a one-year deal, having played for the club in 2021.

In 12 games this season he has five assists and a -7 while averaging 16:21 of ice time.

Contract talks hit snag

Some believe that Pesce could be a potential piece due to the stalled contract discussions between the veteran and the club.

Now in the final year of a six-year deal, the 28-year-old defenseman played five games this season, scoring a goal and adding an assist, but has since been hampered by a lower-body injury.

This is Pesce's ninth season with the Hurricanes.
