During a heated battle between the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks two players found themselves in a shoving match. Tempers flared and Klim Kostin and Connor Murphy traded shoves. Kostin then wanted more and re-engaged with Murphy after the conflict was over. This led Kostin to get an unheard-of misconduct.
Kostin was given a 2-minute minor for cross-checking, a 2-minute minor for roughing, and a 10-minute misconduct for continuing the altercation, while Murphy was only given 2 minutes for roughing. This led to a powerplay for the Chicago Blackhawks on the ensuing play.
The matchup of the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks used to be a heated Western Conference matchup. Now the teams are in separate conferences and both fighting to get back to their former glory.
Last night's supremacy went to the Detroit Red Wings in a 5-1 win. The Red Wings continue to stay in the playoff picture far longer than many predicted. Two-goal efforts from JT Compher and Robby Fabbri led the Red Wings to yet another victory.
For the Chicago Blackhawks this was another disappointing night in a season that was not expected to bring competitive hockey.
The Blackhawks have finally been able to put the Corey Perry situation behind them which is a positive. The point getters on the Blackhawks goal will also inspire confidence with Lukas Reichel getting the goal from Connor Bedard and Kevin Korchinski on the assists.
