According to premier NHL Insider Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, it appears that New Jersey Devils goalie MacKenzie Blackwood will not be receiving a qualifying offer.
Blackwood is currently an RFA, but him not receiving a qualifying offer automatically makes him an unrestricted free agent.
Blackwood was once considered to be a rising star in the NHL goaltending ranks, but his shine has fallen considerably after a few rough statistical seasons.
After a run of two stellar season where he posted a .918 and .915 Save Percentage, Blackwood has been struggling since the 2020-2021 season with his numbers falling off of a cliff.
He has not had a Save Percentage above .902 in in the past three years, and even spent some time with AHL Utica this past year.
A fresh start may be beneficial to get this once promising young netminder back on the road to prosperity.
