The Detroit Redwings have already been eliminated from the playoffs this season, so you know players have to be frustrated from all the losing. Some of that frustration came out after the Redwings loss today at the hands of the Florida Panthers 6-1 when Dylan Larkin had some choice words for his teammates.
After today's loss Dylan Larkin the captain of the Red Wings made a statement that he has some concerns with the effort being put forth by his teammates. He was asked about sending positives messages and if there was enough ''will'' in the locker room to be positive before the end of the season, which he said:
"That he wasn't sure. At times yes, at other times no," admitted Larkin. "Like you said we are running out of runway and we have to end the season here on a positive note and we have tough competition but we have 2 weeks left to figure things out and end on a positive note to go into the summer."
Larkin also said how his teammates needed to motivate themselves personally even in difficult situations such as the losing streaks and patience of a rebuild.
"I've said it a lot, someone can't push you out the door like it's minor hockey and give you candy after the game," said a stern faced Larkin. "You have to take pride in this and you have to take pride in wearing the Wing Wheel and going out there and fighting for a job next year. There's plenty of guys in our locker room that have to do that, I would say everyone, and you have to find that yourself. It doesn't just come, you have to find it."
