Between 2010-2017, Milan Lucic was one of those players that every team wanted to have. You hated when your team played against him but you would absolutely love to have him playing for you.
For a span of 7 years you could almost pencil him in for 20 goals, 50 points, 80+ Penalty Minutes and quite a few bruising hits.
Unfortunately for Lucic though, the game got quicker and he did not. After his first season in Edmonton, his stats dropped off a cliff. He continued to receive a lesser and lesser role, and now he has basically been turned into an enforcer in Calgary. Long-gone are the days that Lucic was traded for a starting goalie (Martin Jones), a top 4 defenceman (Colin Miller) and a 1st round pick (13th overall).
Lucic was at his absolute best when he was a Bruin. He played their style of hockey and he had chemistry with David Krejci. With the Bruins currently in conversations with Krejci to make his NHL return, Hockey Insider Jimmy Murphy made an interesting suggestion that the Bruins might be interested in.
The Bruins have not had much playoff success since losing to the St. Louis Blues in the finals in 2019, and when Milan Lucic was in town, he was an absolute fan favourite.
Murphy recommends trading back for this 34 year old power forward to make the Big Bad Bruins, Big and Bad again!
