Before the NFL's Superbowl even started Eminem informed NFL officials his intentions to kneel on solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, but the NFL informed him that wasn't something they'd be okay with. The NFL is clearly trying to separate themselves from political controversy and failing ratings.
In 2018, the NFL banned players from kneeling or sitting during the National Anthem, instead forcing players uninterested in standing, to remain in their locker room.
At the time Roger Goodell said, "on-field protests created a false perception among many that thousands of NFL players were unpatriotic."
The NFL eventually changed their policy in 2020 admitting is wasn't right.
But apparently last night the NFL didn't expect Eminem to kneel as he requested, but in classic Eminem fashion he does what he wants.
It was also reported that Dr. Dre used an unapproved lyric during his performance.
