Insider Confirms That Steven Stamkos May Get Moved At The Trade Deadline
Today an NHL insider dropped a bombshell that indicates Steven Stamkos could be available via trade this season.
Stamkos On His Way Out Of Tampa Bay?
Today during the 32 Thoughts Podcast Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman discussed the future of Steven Stamkos. The pair discussed Stamkos' expiring contract at the end of this year. They mentioned that Stamkos could be moved at the deadline if there is no extension done by then.
EF (32TP): "What happens if Tampa is a bubble team and Stamkos isn't signed at the end of the season?"
Marek: "Well, that's what Julien BriseBois talked about at the beginning of the season, we need to see what the season is going to be like here"
EF: "Teams are going to call"
With Stamkos' future in doubt it begins to make one think about what it would be like seeing him in another uniform.
Stamkos Still A Valuable Asset To A Playoff Team
Despite being 33 years old and in the last year of his contract Steven Stamkos will still hold immense value. A multiple-time Stanley Cup champion with the offensive accolades that he possesses doesn't come around very often.
Over 500 goals
Over 1,000 points
2 Stanley Cups
Future Hall of Famer
Greatest player in Tampa sports history
Steven Stamkos went through it all to become a legend.
Whether it is with the Tampa Bay Lightning or another franchise Stamkos will continue to impact winning teams the rest of his career. While it would be awesome to see Stamkos stick with one franchise in an era of such volatile player movement seeing him chase championships would also be fun as well.
