Goaltending has been an issue for the LA Kings this season. Both goaltenders have a winning record, but both have very poor goal against and save percentages.
At the moment, Jonathan Quick who has been the long-time starter, has a 3.30 goals against average and .890 save percentage, and Cal Petersen who was supposed to take over the reins as starter last season has a 3.75 goal against average and .868 save percentage.
Today the Kings announced that the 28 year old Petersen has been placed on waivers:

On September 22, 2021 the Kings signed Petersen to a three year extension with an AAV of $5 million, which also includes a modified no trade clause. Things are not looking good for this goaltender who has not had a save percentage above .900 since signing the extension over a year ago.
Cal Petersen is under contract for two seasons beyond this one at a $5M AAV. He's also due a $4M signing bonus next year.
