With the Penguins' window closing, Crosby, as well as Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin, may be moved. The Penguins' rebuild won't go so great if they get no value for their three foundational pieces.
This mock trade would send Crosby to the Colorado Avalanche, to reunite him with his good friend and hometown compatriote Nathan Mackinnon.
Sidney Crosby has spent nearly 20 years in a Penguins uniform, and many think he'll retire in Pittsburgh. If he were to be traded, however, it would almost certainly either be to his favourite team growing up in Montreal, or to the Colorado Avalanche.
The Avs are perennial cup contenders, with their core of Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and Cale Makar, and bringing in a player like Crosby would almost certainly bring another cup to Denver.
The proposed trade would look like this:
Any deal involving a name like Crosby's will have to be for a haul, and this certainly is one. Byram, who was the fourth overall pick in 2019, looks like he'll be a surefire top-4 defenseman. Girard is locked up long term at a very reasonable number. The three first round picks are just cherries on top!
While a trade like this is absolutely farfetched, Sidney Crosby could be moved one day. The only question is, can he bring one more cup to Pittsburgh before it's all over?
