In a strange predicament, in a 1-1 game Wednesday night against the Washington Capitals, coach Peter Deboer chose to pull Lehner after the first period and go with rookie backup Logan Thompson for periods 2 and 3. No one knew or understood why.
Two days later it was announced that Lehner was being shut down for the season with a knee injury and it required surgery.
But head coach Peter Deboer said that he had no idea of such surgery and expected Lehner back at practice.
Golden Knights coach Pete DeBoer said the reports Robin Lehner is undergoing season-ending surgery are not accurate to his knowledge.
