Well that didn't take long. Marc Bergevin was fired by the Montreal Canadiens on November 29th, but he was expected to find NHL work quickly after guiding the Montreal Canadiens to a Stanley Cup Final last season. Bergevin was even rumoured to be in the running for the Vancouver Canucks General Manager job, but ultimately that didn't come to fruition.
Today though it was announced that Marc Bergevin has found his way back to the NHL. It was long expected Bergevin could by the heir apparent in Anaheim to replace former Ducks GM Bob Murray, but it's actually with the Ducks state rival the Los Angeles Kings that Bergevin has found work.
The Los Angeles Kings PR account tweeted out the following confirmation this afternoon.
The @LAKings announced today that Marc Bergevin has joined the organization in a consulting capacity as Senior Advisor to the General Manager.
Bergevin was able to spend the holidays with his family before returning to this NHL role. There will likely be some restrictions to what activities Bergevin can take part in, due to his previous knowledge of the Canadiens draft strategy and other plans. But this consulting role brings him one step closer to another General Manager role.
This new role also reunites Bergevin with former Canadiens player Philip Danault, who left the Canadiens last summer after not being able to agree on a contract extension.
