This past season wasn't quite what the Winnipeg Jets were expecting when they started the year. The Jets went into the offseason last year after being swept by the Montreal Canadiens thinking they only needed to improve their defence and they could be a true contender for the cup. The team added a few pieces on the back end, and even made a coaching change, but unfortunately they missed the playoffs.
Jets fans are now asking for changes and changes sound like they'll be coming. Expect the Jets to look significantly different next season as Center's Mark Scheifele hinted that he wanted to play elsewhere next season, and Pierre Luc-Dubois also stated he wanted to test the free agent market in 2024, so the Jets could be losing their best 2 centers already.
Frank Seravalli also revealed that the Jets are possibly looking at dealing their long time captain Blake Wheeler. It's a bit of a surprise as Wheeler is a fan favourite in Winnipeg and has been a key piece to their team for a long time.
We have no idea yet what the asking price for Wheeler is going to be, but a contending team who wants to win now will definitely be interested in his services.
