This past offseason, the Edmonton Oilers traded away Zack Kassian to free up some cap space. It was not well received by fans at the veteran had spent over 7 years with the Oilers and provided some physical presence that is desperately missing on the team.

He was traded from Edmonton Oilers with round 1 pick in the 2022 draft (Maveric Lamoureux), round 3 pick in the 2024 draft and round 2 pick in the 2025 draft to Arizona Coyotes for round 1 pick in the 2022 draft (Reid Schaefer).

Last night he played his first game back in Edmonton since the trade, and received an ovation from the crowd.

During the third period, Oilers Klim Kostin and Coyotes Clayton Keller began getting into it a little bit which resulted in both getting penalties.

When the penalties were finished, Kassian went right after Kostin, to ''teach the young man a lesson'' and following a few cross checks, a fight broke out between the two of them that ended with Kassian bleeding.

Kostin had already recorded a goal and assist in the game, so with this fight he recorded his first gordie howe hattrick!
