The Calgary Flames disastrous start to the 2023-24 season has them lining up a potential franchise overhaul and rebuild, and with several assets comes plenty of attention from playoff ready teams.
Hanifin Drawing Interest From Three Powerhouse Teams
After five seasons in Calgary, Noah Hanifin will be hitting the free agent market this summer, and with the Flames struggling to a 3-7-1 start, it makes sense for them to begin listening to offers.
According to Eklund of Hockey Buzz, the New York Rangers, Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes have all expressed interest in the 26-year old, and if the Flames continue to struggle, he'll become an even more valuable asset to the franchise.
The Flames came very close to moving Hanifan at the draft, and now they are starting to get people calling once again...these teams include: The NY Rangers, Boston Bruins, and Carolina Hurricanes....
A veteran superstar defenseman that can be a major difference maker
Hanifin has been off to another solid start this year, tallying 5 points through 11 games following career highs of 48 and 38 points over the past two seasons, and it's become no secret he wants to return to the US.
Ultimately, if the Flames do rebuild, there's several players that will be available, but perhaps none will bring a better return that Hanifin, who has already played 609 games by the age of 26, and if any of these three teams can land him, it will change their whole dynamic for the better.
