BREAKING: Top League Mandates Neck Protection
Another league has taken the leap to mandate the use of neck protection by its players.
Top League Mandates Neck Protection
Today another European league has mandated neck guards. A report by Chris Johnston confirms that the German Ice Hockey League will start a neckguard mandate on January 1st.
The German Ice Hockey League is mandating cut-resistant neck protection be worn by all players starting Jan. 1, following a unanimous vote from the sports directors of the league's 14 clubs.
The German league has decided to make this mandate after the unfortunate passing of Adam Johnson. This will likely not be the last league to implement a neckguard mandate.
The NHL has had several players wear them voluntarily and a mandate from the league will likely come in the offseason.
