Ryan Reaves Screws The Toronto Maple Leafs Over As Now The NHL May Launch An Investigation Into The Organization
Ryan Reaves made an interesting comment yesterday as he revealed that he has been ready to return to the NHL for multiple weeks. Now his comments could get the team in trouble.
NHL To Investigate Leafs For Reaves Situation?
The Leafs have kept the 37-year-old enforcer on IR instead of placing him on long-term injured reserve. This is significant as the team does not have to file any paperwork with the league to do this. Instead, they can effectively keep him on IR indefinitely. While his cap hit still counts while on IR, the move seems to be worth it to Leafs management. Now that so much attention has been drawn to the situation though, the league could look into the situation.
So Ryan Reaves comes out and ses he's been healthy for weeks now but the leafs still keep him on injury reserve, and the league does nothing about it?
They should at least investigate?
If not, that just goes to show you how corrupt Gary Bettman is.
Meanwhile, Reaves continues to insist that he is healthy enough to play. The Leafs are denying that this is the case, leading to friction between the player and team.
Ryan Reaves insists he has been healthy for weeks despite Maple Leafs keeping him on injured reserve
So far, the NHL has not commented on the situation. However, if Reaves continues to sit despite being healthy, we could see a grievance filed on behalf of Reaves by the NHLPA. At that point, the league would be forced to respond to the situation. Stay tuned to see how this all shakes out.
