When you think of tough, shot blocking defenceman, Chris Tanev is one of the first defenceman that comes to mind. The guy will stand infront of a train coming if it means it will benefit his team. He puts his body on the line every game for his team, and unfortunately that has come with a few injuries over his career, and tonight was a pretty significant one.
The Calgary Flames were on the penalty kill and when Nick Suzuki was set up for a one-timer, Chris Tanev being the type of player he is, gets in the way to block the shot.
Suzuki's shot gets up quick and strikes Tanev right in the side of the head, sending him immediately to the ice and people knew right away he was in trouble.
Tanev needed assistance by his teammates to get off the ice and was taken to the Flames dressing room, accompanied by the trainers for both the Calgary Flames and Montreal Canadiens.
Let's hope Tanev is alright.
