Last night the Winnipeg Jets were hosting the Minnesota Wild, which ended as a win for the visitors, but the win came at a huge cost.

Half way through the third period, their star player Kirill Kaprizov left the game with a serious lower-body injury after taking a hit from Jets huge defenceman Logan Stanley.

The 6'7 230 pound defenceman, landed ontop of Kaprizov which caused his legs to split awkwardly as he hit the ice:

The 25-year-old Russian native is having an exceptional season, tallying 39 goals, 35 assists, and 74 points in 65 games this year. He is the key offensive player for his team, leading the scoring with the closest player being Mats Zuccarello with 59 points this season.

Following the game, Wild head coach Dean Evason did not have any updates on Kaprizov's condition. However, he noted that they may have more information on his injury after a medical examination tomorrow.

Kaprizov, who was a fifth-round pick for the Wild in 2015, spent six seasons in the KHL before finally making his NHL debut with the Wild in the 2020-21 season. He is currently in the second year of his five-year contract with a $9 million cap hit.
