Matthew Knies has truly emerged as a force for the Maple Leafs. He's been promoted to this first line, and he's been a massive proponent to team success.
Unfortunately, his playoffs could be over after a disgusting use of force by Sam Bennett.
Bennett Intentionally Tries to Injure Knies
The Florida Panthers may very well take a 2-0 lead in their series against the Maple Leafs tonight, but it won't come without some controversy.
After pinning Matthew Knies to the boards, Sam Bennett proceeded to continue to crush the rookie, and throw him head-first into the ground.
Knies had difficulty getting up, appearing dazed from the dirty hit.
There was no penalty on the play, but as we've seen with the Cale Makar suspension, there could still be supplemental discipline for Bennett.
The Panthers find success off of their grit, but these types of moves are just embarrassing. We will see if the NHL acts on this crazy play.
