Skinner Gives a Nod to Oilers Legend with Sick Retro Pads
At the heritage classic game, Oilers' goaltender Stuart Skinner will give a nod to this goaltending legend by wearing some throwback pads.
Skinner Shows Respect for Grant Fuhr With Pad Choice for Heritage Classic
On Saturday, the NHL will host the first of the many outdoor games that it has on slate for the season. The game will see the Edmonton Oilers go up against the Calgary Flames in a battle of Alberta version of the heritage classic.
One of the most interesting parts of these outdoor games is the equipment players get to wear, with some players sporting different accessories than they normally would, or wearing equipment that looks old school to give a nod to the NHL's history.
Edmonton Oilers goalie Stuary Skinner is no exception and has debuted his vintage pads at practice, giving a nod to Grant Fuhr with the design.
Skinner's Heritage Classic pads are a direct throwback to one of Grant Fuhr's setups in Edmonton. #Oilers
Skinner Shows a Love for Edmonton With the Move
Although the move isn't necessarily the first time a goalie has paid homage to a team's history, it is nice to see Skinner, a 24-year-old, recognize who has come before him and understand the history of the Oilers.
All geared up for the #HeritageClassic 🤩
