TSN a top sports news service has released their first segment of their top 50 NHL players, rookie Connor Bedard will be on the list while having zero NHL experience.
The TSN Panels of Experts all say that Bedard will be a top 50 NHL player in the league this year.
The reactions from fans around the league have majorly disagreed with the panel's opinions.
With a considerably average preseason so far for the former first overall pick, the backlash is understandable.
We know that at least 10 NHL players are ranked lower than Bedard, including some legendary players of the game.
Jaccob Slavin, Alex Pietrangelo, Juuse Saros, Josh Morrissey and Dougie Hamilton are the first five names on the list.
Pietrangelo who has been a consistent top 2 defenseman in the league for a number of years and Hamilton who has exploded in offence since joining the Devils are both ranked lower than a player that has not even played in the NHL.
Kyle Connor, Connor Hellebuyck, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Steven Stamkos round out the list of names that was released today.
Stamkos although older has been a legendary center for many years, and Kyle Connor being one of the best goal scorers in the NHL join the list of players ranked lower than Bedard.
All the hype around Bedard may have made people forget that he is 18-years-old and just entering the league, Bedard will no doubt be a great player in the league some day, but expecting him to be better than the vast majority of the league is a lot of pressure on the kid.
