On Sunday, almost 60 players found themselves on waivers, but with teams having to submit their rosters before the regular season begins, the last two days have been much less chaotic. with just four players finding themselves on waivers on Tuesday.
The most intriguing of them all may be young forward Raphael Lavoie, who was placed on waivers just 48 hours ago by the Edmonton Oilers, with the Pacific Division rival Vegas Golden Knights picking up the young forward. It's unclear what their motive was behind the move, as the team also acquired Cole Schwindt from the Calgary Flames, but unsurprisingly, the Oilers are expected to add him to their roster once more and send him to the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL.
After tallying 50 points for the Condors a year ago with 28 goals in 66 games, the 24-year old competed for a spot in the Oilers lineup this off-season, but after fearing the worst on Monday, the team are set to bring him back into the fold. It's unclear what his path to the NHL will be, with the Oilers bottom-six full of veteran experience, but if he keeps performing, it's only a matter of time until he's battling for NHL minutes.
Beyond Lavoie, veteran goaltender Chris Driedger is the biggest name on waivers, with the Panthers looking to send him to the AHL as an experienced depth piece for their goaltending group, and with the regular season starting for most, we shouldn't see too much waiver activity in the coming days after a chaotic week gone by.
