Wayne Gretzky is going to be taking part in a celebrity golf match that will allow him to win $1 million if he can come out on top.
TNT recently announced the star-studded lineup for the next installment of 'The Match', a popular golf tournament in which some of the biggest names from various sports and entertainment backgrounds compete for a prize of $1 million. With its fun and friendly competition, major personalities ensure that 'The Match' will be filled with several exciting moments, a combination of athletic prowess and unexpected gold skills from icons not typically known for their swing.
The event will unite a fabulous melange of sporting legends and entertainers, each bringing their unique appeal. The participants will include the likes of Wayne Gretzky, oftentimes referred to as "The Great One," four times a Stanley Cup champion and Hall of Famer within the NHL, and he is sure to entice hockey fans. He will be joined by MLB Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr., one of the all-time legends with more than 600 career home runs, and Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time with a total of 23 medals, who will take to the greens with competitive fire in his belly.
Comedic flair and charisma will be added by none other than comedy superstar Bill Murray, best known for his dry wit and outstanding golfing antics in the classic film 'Caddyshack'. That's a guarantee he will bring memorable moments along with fellow comedian Nate Bargatze, a stand-up sensation on the rise. Rounding out the participants are NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley and former #1 NBA draft pick Blake Griffin. Knowing Barkley's strong on-court abilities and comedic-style commentary, there is probably a mix of expertise and humor in his contribution, while Griffin surprises fans with the athleticism not as well-known concerning his golf skills.
But hold on for a curveball: Hollywood's Mark Wahlberg will be there to join him,
adding some serious A-list heft to the lineup. As a noted golf aficionado, Wahlberg, a veteran of celebrity tournaments himself, is sure to hold his own. From rock stars to actors, politicians, and sports icons, this is something way more than just a game of golf, it's going to be an entertainment-value clash of odd alliances and rivalries.
With the tournament set to air shortly, fans are eagerly waiting to see them in action on the course. Let's just say that Wayne Gretzky might want to call in a favor from his son-in-law, professional golfer Dustin Johnson, for those last-minute tips. The whole idea of this 'Match' is skill, showmanship, and humor all combined, and audiences are probably going to get something unforgettable.
