Montreal Canadiens make trade with LA Kings involving two first-round picks
It was just announced that the Montreal Canadiens and the LA Kings have brokered a trade involving four draft picks including two first-round picks.
Montreal Canadiens GM Kent Hughes has just made an aggressive move to move up in the 2024 NHL draft.
The Canadiens have acquired a first-round pick (2024) from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for three draft picks.
Per the Canadiens:
"Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced on Friday that the team has acquired pick no. 21 in the 2024 NHL Draft from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for the Club's first round (26th), second round (57th), and seventh round (198th) picks in this year's draft."
TRADE: #GoHabsGo acquire Pick #21 overall (1st) from #GoKingsGo for Picks #26 (1st), #57 (2nd), and #198 (7th).
The Canadiens are parting ways with an additional second-round pick and seventh-round pick for the ability to move up five spots in the first round.
The draft will be taking place tonight and the Canadiens will now be picking 5th overall and 21st overall.
