Brad Marchand nearly involved in skate blade accident
During the Boston Bruins game last night versus the Pittsburgh Penguins, Brad Marchand was nearly involved in a scary skate blade accident that could have been dangerous.
There has been a heightened sense of awareness of skate blade injuries this season, and luckily, the NHL just avoided one last night. During the Boston Bruins game versus the Pittsburgh Penguins, Brad Marchand and Michael Bunting got into a mixup in open ice. Marchand ended up tripping Bunting, which resulted in his skate flying upwards.
Take a look at how close it came to being a truly scary incident.
This is insane. I'm rattled man.
Some of the posts are alleging that Bunting could have done this on purpose, but that is an extremely serious allegation to make without any serious evidence. With the video slowed down, it is impossible to tell Bunting's motives.
The Boston Bruins ended up topping the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-4 in the game, and Brad Marchand even scored a goal, a shorthanded one that was a heartbreaker for the Penguins.
No idea what EK is doing but Marchand shorty 4-1
Luckily, for both parties, nothing happened with the skate blade and both were able to walk away from the incident. The close call does make you think again about the earlier push this season for players to wear neck guards, and this makes you think that the NHL should be considering that this offseason.
