Marcus Foligno was born in and played in Buffalo but that did not stop him from holding back when discussing his team's recent struggles.

Back in 2009, Marcus Foligno was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the fourth round kickstarting his NHL career. Foligno spent the first six years of his career in Buffalo and was then traded to Minnesota in 2017.

Since then, Foligno has gone on to be a leader for the Wild and produced career numbers with a larger role in the Wild. Additionally, Foligno has gotten to experience playoff hockey, something most Sabres players cannot say they have done.

It looks like the Sabres will be missing out on playoff hockey for yet another year as they currently sit tied for second last in the league in points and are on a mind-boggling 12-game losing streak.

The Wild are in a very different position to the Sabres standing at second in the Central Division but have recently gone on a 3-game losing streak and are 5-5-0 in their last ten games.

When asked about this recent stretch of poor performance, Foligno did not pull any punches and got brutally honest about his teams current position.

While 5-5-0 is far from ideal for a contending team, it is leagues better than 0-9-3, which is the Sabres record, and is a hole too deep to dig out of, even if Buffalo were to start performing incredibly.

We will now see how the season progresses and if the Wild can bounce back into contender status and if the Sabres can somehow pull of a miracle and compete for a Stanley Cup Playoff spot.
