Jake Guentzel hints at leaving Carolina with recent quote
The Carolina Hurricanes have failed again to make a legitimate playoff push after a 4-2 series loss to the New York Rangers in the second round.
Jake Guentzel, acquired by the Canes from the Pittsburgh Penguins at the NHL Trade Deadline spoke with the media for Carolina's end of year presser. During the presser he hinted at the end of his tenure in Carolina as he seems to be heading to free agency.
Closing thought from Guentzel: «This team for sure can win the Stanley Cup. They've got everything you need.»
As cliche as it sounds, usually a player would say "we" and not "they", it really seemed like a deal may not be reached with the Hurricanes.
Carolina has many players to sign with the main priority being Seth Jarvis who is coming off a career year, also Martin Necas who has priced himself out of a Raleigh. It will be a busy summer for the Carolina Hurricanes.
Although, Jake Guentzel can very well take a team friendly deal if he really believes in the plan in Carolina, but knowing in free agency he would be the most sought out free agent, it can be tempting to test the market.
