Surprising turn of events for the Martin Necas blockbuster trade
Carolina Hurricanes interim GM Eric Tulsky has his work cut out for himself this offseason with many free agents and Martin Necas being rumored to want out.
The Carolina Hurricanes have had forward Martin Necas attached to many trade rumors recently with teams reportedly calling on the Czech forward. Just a little bit ago it was widely perceived that Necas will be getting traded this offseason but now it seems like that may not be the case.
Insider Pierre LeBrun shared major news that makes things look a lot less black and white moving forward.
Pierre Lebrun gives us an update on Martin Necas, saying that Carolina intends to expand his role next year, but teams have been calling.
«But there is very little chance the Hurricanes, in win-now mode, are trading Necas for a futures package. If they get a star-caliber asset in an offer, I do believe Carolina would give it some serious thought. But if not, I think the Canes are ready to hang onto him even if that might be a rocky course, considering it appears the player wants a change of scenery.»
Necas spent the playoffs on the Hurricanes' third line alongside Jordan Martinook and Jack Drury and performed well in the role scoring 9 points in 11 playoff games. If the Hurricanes are sure they can unlock Necas' full potential, he will likely be one of their best players moving forward.
More details to come.
