During the NHL holiday break, December 24th through December 26th, teams are not allowed to hold any practices or team events.
However, this does not stop some teams from trying to do something during it, with the Toronto Maple Leafs being fined $100,000 back in 2022 for traveling during the holiday break.
Recently, a report emerged claiming that the Dallas Stars held an optional practice during the holiday break, which is a violation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Now, Darren Dreger has officially stated that the Stars will be fined by the league for this violation.
The Leafs' fine from 2022 was a bit different because the entire team traveled while the Stars had an optional skate for just some players to show up to. However, the NHL and the NHLPA does not mess around when it comes to the Collective Bargaining Agreement so the Stars could receive a fine as large as Toronto's.
Thus far, the Dallas Stars are in one of the best spots in the NHL. Not only do they have plenty of talent in their primes or slightly past it, but they also have young stars like Wyatt Johnston, Thomas Harley, Logan Stankoven, Jason Robertson, Miro Heiskanen, and Jake Oettinger.
This rare blend of youth and experience is one that every team in the NHL envy. While the Stars will be fined soon by the NHL, the revenue the current team brings in will be able to compensate for any losses the team has would have.
