Connor McDavid explains why he likely will not play against Coyotes
The Edmonton Oilers have another key game tonight against the Arizona Coyotes as they chase the Vancouver Canucks for the top spot in the Pacific division. However, Connor McDavid likely will not be playing in the game.
The Oilers superstar revealed that he's been dealing with a minor injury that may keep him out of tonight's game. It should come as no surprise that a hockey player is dealing with something at this point of the season. Basically everyone has some sort of ailment they are dealing with by now. McDavid confirmed though that the Oilers have bigger goals than winning an April game against the Coyotes, noting that his health is more important to the team. As such, we will likely see him take a couple of games off, including tonight.
Connor McDavid says that he «probably won't go tonight». Asked if it was a lingering injury or new he replied «a little bit of both». He added that he's pretty confident he'll be healed up and good to go for playoffs.
That has not stopped the superstar from continuing to stay in game form though. Just this morning he was seen practicing by himself ahead of the team's morning skate. Clearly he is good enough for on-ice training, and with his drive and determination, it is hard to get him off the ice.

One fan even joked about McDavid's work ethic using a picture of him down the hall from a game, comparing the situation to how he sits out games even though he's healthy enough to play.
When I imagine Connor McDavid missing a game, this is what I I think of. Sitting in his full gear waiting to play again.
Luckily the Oilers are in a position where they can give McDavid a little bit of rest. It could come in handy come playoff time.
