Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane held his Christmas shop charity event for the third time this week.

While Evander Kane may not be contributing on the ice this year, he is still showing his support for the hockey community in Edmonton.

Today, he held his annual Christmas Shop charity event where he helps children in the city get Christmas gifts their families otherwise may not have been able to afford.

This year was the third time the power-forward held the event.

He began the tradition during the 2022-23 season, his second year with the Oilers.

This year, he reached more than 200 children, no small feat and a great way to show some love to the community that has shown him love on the ice.

Sadly, Oilers fans have not been able to enjoy watching Evander Kane this year as he has missed the entire season to this point due to injury.

The Oilers announced in September that Kane had undergone multiple surgeries to repair various issues, without giving us any timeline for his possible return.

In October, NHL insider Kevin Weekes reported that Kane was on track to return from injury sometime in 'early 2025.'

However, since then there has largely been radio silence on this front.

A couple of days ago, Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch did give us an update though saying he will still be out for 'at least a month.'

A month from now would be late January, so that does fit the timeline Weekes reported, but it sounds like that would be a best-case scenario.

Perhaps it is more likely that Kane will be out significantly longer than that, just based on the way Knoblauch talked about it.

We will just have to wait for more updates on his status. In the meantime though, it is nice to see him active and participating in the community.

Do you think the Edmonton Oilers will end up trading Evander Kane before he even plays a game for them this season?
