Despite landing some more star power in the off-season, the Nashville Predators have been off to a dreadful start this year, with their 9-17-6 record seeing them sit in 16th spot in the Western Conference.
The team may not be out of the race in their eyes however, as Barry Trotz has confirmed that they will be buyers, rather than sellers as the trade deadline approaches, with the team's ultimate goal still being to win.
Now, it appears that their ultimate target has been revealed, with reports now coming in that the team is pushing hard to land Dylan Cozens from the Buffalo Sabres ahead of the NHL's roster freeze over the holidays.
That freeze begins on Friday, showing that the team, according to Michael Gallagher is pushing hard to get a deal done by Thursday night, with the 23-year-old a player they believe can spark them and give further depth down the middle.
With just 14 points in 32 games this season, Cozens certainly hasn't lived up to the expectations of a player earning over $7 million for the next six years, but at his age, he is expected to continue developing, with many believing he'll be a star in the NHL one day.
At this point, that doesn't appear to be with Buffalo, as the team is falling apart on the back of 11 straight losses, and if the price is right, expect the team to be open to moving Cozens.
