Leon Draisaitl addresses Oilers fans amid shocking trade rumours
The Edmonton Oilers have a big decision to make on Leon Draisaitl moving forward, and now he's addressed the fans through recent trade rumours.
After an incredible season, the Edmonton Oilers fell just one game short of the Stanley Cup Finals, and while their fans were proud, it must be disappointing that another year of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl saw them come away empty handed. With just one year before free agency, trade speculation has begun surrounding Draisaitl, who could command arguably the richest deal in NHL history in the summer of 2025.
That comes despite reports that Draisaitl would love to stay with the Oilers long-term, and now he's addressed the fans that may be worried about his future throughout all this speculation.
"A bitter end to a tremendous season. I am confident the growth our group experienced will propel us to the top. Thank you #OilCountry for your unwavering support all season long."
Unsurprisingly, Draisaitl's post on social media doesn't go into any specifics on the contract situation or where his future will be, but given the love he's shown to the team and the fans and vice versa, it wouldn't shock anyone if he returned on a huge deal.
