For the past few months, there's been new updates on Leon Draisaitl seemingly every other day, and now, we know an intriguing new detail in the contract saga with the Edmonton Oilers superstar. While all signs now point to a seven or eight year deal, it has been reported that he's happy to take a pay cut on the pretense that he gets an eight-year deal and both Connor McDavid and Evan Bouchard do the same.
This would be a huge move for Draisaitl, as it would allow the team to bring back two of their best pieces, while at the same time saving plenty of salary cap space as the team look to take the final step towards the Stanley Cup. It's unclear however whether or not this latest detail will push the deal towards happening anytime soon, but with Stan Bowman taking over as General Manager and the season drawing near, things are looking good for Edmonton and their star forward.
