Blockbuster trade rumor sending Mikael Granlund from the Sharks to the Canadiens has been revealed
A massive trade rumor involving Sharks' Mikael Granlund to the Canadiens has surfaced by an NHL insider, in order to help the Habs remain competitive.
Mikael Granlund, a forward, is the target of a recently proposed trade involving the Montreal Canadiens and the San Jose Sharks. NHL reporter Tony Marinaro made this suggestion, which was posted on TVA Sports.
The club obviously needs another experienced veteran to mentor the younger players and more attacking support. These requirements are included in Marinaro's suggestion, which also includes a different Finnish forward who might get along with Patrik Laine.
Mikael Granlund might be a good option to help Christian Dvorak and Jake Evans at center while keeping Kirby Dach on the wing. Tony Marinaro suggests a Mikael Granlund deal between the San Jose Sharks and the Montreal Canadiens could be in the works over the next few weeks.
«If Jake Evans is there, it's because Dach isn't getting the job done, it's because Dvorak isn't getting the job done, it's because [Oliver] Kapanen isn't getting the job done.. Newhook as well,» said Lajoie.
This prompted Marinaro to suggest an idea to address the issue: acquire an established center from a team struggling at the bottom of the NHL, like Mikael Granlund of the San Jose Sharks.

The Canadiens have currently added Jake Evans as their new second-line center. Granlund's season with the young Sharks is really going well and he could fit in nicely with the Habs. It's not a horrible trade rumor.
«Mikael Granlund is in the last year of his contract,» continued the analyst. «He's a good offensive player, he could help the Canadiens as a second-line center.»
The 32-year-old Finnish center forward, who was selected ninth overall in the 2010 first round, has scored 14 points, including six goals, in 13 games this season. He scored 60 points in 69 games the previous season. Mikael Granlund is making $5 million annually at the moment, which is easily a salary that the Canadiens could fit under their cap with the right moves.
