The Montreal Canadiens rebuild is going well, with Juraj Slafkovksy being a huge part of that young core, but now he's dealing with a minor injury.

While plenty is going wrong for the Montreal Canadiens over the past few months, with injuries to the likes of Patrik Laine and Kaiden Guhle, the organization has plenty of positives, with Cole Caufield and Juraj Slafkovsky seemingly developing into superstars right in front of our eyes. The 20-year-old winger was once the No. 1 overall pick in the NHL Draft, coming into the league with plenty of hype and expectations, and a year ago, he took a step towards stardom, tallying 20 goals and 50 points while playing in all 82 games.

His start in 2024/25 has been just as solid posting a goal and 3 assists through five games, but now, the talented young star is reportedly dealing with a minor injury to his shoulder.

According to a social media account, the 20-year-old is dealing with inflammation in his left shoulder, seemingly coming as a result of the physical style of play that he incorporates on the ice. It appears the injury may not cause him to miss any time, but if he does it would be one or two games at the most, and given the injury to Laine, this is the last thing that their injury-riddled wing group at the NHL level needs.

Despite many people expecting Montreal to take Shane Wright with the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, Slafkovsky has proven many people wrong early in his NHL career thus far, and with the size, speed, and skill necessary to compete at the highest level, he is a star in the making, so the hope is that this injury won't keep him out for long, if at all.
